Concern for lady with dementia in Torquay

CALLOUT: 18:36

The team were called out to assist Devon and Cornwall Police with the search for an elderly lady with dementia who had gone missing in Torquay earlier in the day. The lady was last seen near the Babbacombe Cliff Railway and our volunteers plus Torbay Coastguard were deployed to cover areas around the cliffs radiating out from the point last seen.

Dartmoor Search and rescue Ashburton were called out to assist Devon and Cornwall Police with the search for an elderly lady with dementia who had gone missing in Torquay earlier in the day.

Shortly after deploying the lady was found by a Police officer outside our search area safe and well and all agencies were stood down and we returned to our training session at Haytor Rocks.

It is a little known fact that volunteer Mountain rescue Teams such as Dartmoor Search and Rescue Ashburton, don’t just cover areas of mountains or wild country. We are a resource available to the Police, ambulance and fire services 24/7 and can assist in rural and urban searches as well as flood rescue.
