Donations are critical to maintaining the life-saving service of Devon charity of volunteers, Dartmoor Search and Rescue Ashburton.

The small team of volunteers relies on public and business donations for over 90% of its income and without the public support the free search and rescue service to Dartmoor National park and the communities of south and east Devon would cease to operate.

Apart from their duties helping those in need,  volunteer members train weekly and support team fundraising events.  These events are broad and primarily take take place across South and East Devon. It might be to talk on the work of Mountain and Dartmoor Rescue to a local business or group,  fundraise at village show, marshalling at an organised event or simply collecting donations in our charity tins.

If a loved one with Dementia or Alzheimers was lost who would search for them? We would!

Very few people know about the vital work that the Dartmoor Search and Rescue Ashburton performs. Apart from searching for injured or lost walkers, cyclists, horseriders, and kayakers on Dartmoor, the team gets a number of callouts each year to rural and urban areas across Devon including Exeter, Torbay, Newton Abbot, Exmouth, and Totnes.  In fact we search for missing persons right to the Dorset border at Lyme Regis, and sometimes further afield.  We are frequently called to search for vulnerable people such as dementia patients and despondents including suicide risks and will turn out anytime day and night to help.  The Police and the emergency services don’t have the resources needed for detailed searching required for missing person enquiries and now rely on search and rescue charities like ourselves to assist them.

We are a registered charity and do not get any income from the government. So as you can see, your donations to a us as a small Devon charity will make a real difference to those in need that we help.
