Dartmoor Rescue join major search in Cornwall.

Dartmoor Search and Rescue Ashburton volunteers were called to assist Cornwall Search and Rescue today with a search operation that had been underway since Friday in East Cornwall.

Dartmoor Search and Rescue Ashburton is a charity based in Devon that relies on public donations for around 92% of its funding. The team is part of Dartmoor Rescue Group (DRG) and Mountain Rescue England and Wales (MREW). Its Landrover Ambulance, callsign DART52 is fully equipped with specialist rescue equipment

84 year old Derek Dilworth had been missing from his home at Darleyford near Liskeard since Friday afternoon. We joined a coordinated operation that consisted of all 4 Dartmoor search and rescue teams, the fulltime emergency services including the National Police Air Service (NPAS) helicopter.

Derek had been out in the wet weather that swept the peninsula yesterday afternoon and we are delighted that he has been found. He was found cold and wet this morning and was flown to Derriford hospital for a thorough check-up.
