Multi-agency search for vulnerable male across Torbay.
Callout: Torquay
Dartmoor Rescue volunteers were called out on Monday evening to Torquay to search for a vulnerable male who had gone missing earlier in the day and the Police were concerned for his welfare.
Our team of volunteers searched scrubland and park areas around the Willows and Broomhill Way retail parks. for over 3 hours. The Police had been in sporadic contact with the individual throughout the evening before he terminated the calls. Our teams were stood down shortly after 10pm.
Other agencies were also involved in the search including Torbay Coastguard, Berryhead Coastguard, The National Police Air Service (NPAS) helicopter and the RNLI.
Further investigations by Devon and Cornwall Police after we were stood down indicated the individual was outside our search areas. He was located at Berry Head shortly before midnight and taken to hospital for treatment.
