It’s come a long way from the 20 or so participants we had in 2010 to almost 200 in 2018. We heard the rotor noise and the helicopter landed amidst a flurry of dead grass. In no time at all we had the thumbs up and were walking towards the helicopter for our training flight. A problematic area for communications consisting of rapid river levels increases, steep ground and difficult access.       Grand opening of Rescue Centre On Saturday September 24th, the Dartmoor Search & Rescue Team Ashburton Section, held the grand opening of its new Rescue Centre. Its first permanent base in its 35 year history. Up until now the team has relied on the goodwill of volunteers to store its equipment and vehicles.
