    Dartmoor in the Dark!

    Ticket only event. Join us on a night time adventure of legends, archeology and stories followed by supper in a local pub

    Please note: If you attended our first Dartmoor in the Dark event that took place on Nov 18th 2017, this event will be identical in format, using the same routes and stories to the previous event. We hope to run a different Dartmoor in the Dark route next winter. If you would like to join us again on Feb 24th you will of course be very welcome but you would have heard it all before.

    Fundraising event: £25 per person includes the guided walk followed by a light supper.

    Maximum walking group size: 13 persons + 2 team guides

    Would you like to enjoy the unique beauty of walking on Dartmoor at night lead by experienced mountain rescue volunteers? Well now you can as after the success of our first guided night walk, we are running our second. The walk will take you on to the moor in groups up to 13 people. The walk will be up to 5 km and approximately 3 hours in length. Your walk will be guided by experienced mountain rescue volunteers who will take you to points of interest and tell you more about the moor's unique legends and archeology.

    After the walk, a light supper is arranged in a local pub where you can chat to team members and your fellow walkers in the warm and dry.

    To reserve your place, purchase your ticket before 5pm on the 16th February. Our previous event sold out in 4 days so don't leave it too late and miss out.

    What to bring with you: You will need to bring your own walking equipment and safety gear with you for the nightwalk to include torch/headtorch, waterproofs, walking boots, any medication you require, warm clothing including hat and gloves, and any drink/snacks you need for the walk itself. We will of course feed you when you finish the walk with a hot light supper.

    Any dietary requirements? Please let us know before 16th February of any dietary requirements you have regarding the supper by emailing us at the address below and we will do our best to accommodate you.

    No dogs event: We are sorry that due to logistical reasons Dartmoor in the Dark is a no dogs event. The good news is that our Templer Way event taking place on Sunday April 15th is dog friendly and we hope you will join us and take part. Details will be announced at the beginning of March.

    Terms and conditions

    The route will be up to 5 km in length over approximately 3 hours and will include a short minibus ride at the start or finish.

    The walk is open to children 14 years and over, as well as adults. You will need to be fit and able to cover the distance in the time stated above. The walk will be on the moor predominantly following footpaths and bridleways and will include walking up and down inclines on uneven ground.

    We are unable to accept dogs on the walk other than those with assistance dogs. You will need to inform us at fundraising@dsrtashburton.org.uk if you intend to join the walk with an assistance dog so we can accommodate you. Our next event, the Templer Way Challenge, will be dog friendly and takes place on Sunday 15th April. Tickets will be available in early March.

    You are responsible for bringing your own personal and safety equipment to include a good torch / head torch including spare batteries, waterproofs, walking boots, hat, gloves, warm clothing and any personal medication you require for ailments you may have. Please declare to the event coordinator any medical conditions you have that could impact your ability to complete the walk.

    Although we will provide soup and a hot light supper in a local pub at the end of the walk, any drink/snacks you require on the walk itself will be your responsibility. Alcoholic beverages will be available at the pub at your own cost.

    If you have any specific dietary requirements, please let us know before 16th February by emailing fundraising@dsrtashburton.org.uk. Notifying us after this date means we are unable to guarantee your requirements can be catered for.

    Refunds: Should you be unable to make the event contact us and we will refund your ticket. We are only able to issue refunds up to 5 pm on the 16th February. We are sorry that after that date no refunds can be issued.
